Chapel Hill Winery
McLaren Vale, Australia
Wine Tasting

Chapel Hill Winery is named after their iconic ironstone Chapel, built by Methodist settlers to the McLaren Vale area and officially opened on December 5, 1865. It served as a place of worship, school, and social gathering spot for local farming families for a century.

The Parson Shiraz is the perfect gateway to McLaren Vale Shiraz and it’s evocative array of fruit flavours and textures. This wine displays generous aromas of mulberries, dusted with exotic Indian spices. The luscious palate is brimming with both Aniseed and Satsuma plum flavours that seamlessly integrate into the persistent mouth coating tannins.

The Parson Cabernet Sauvignon is our introduction to explore and enjoy this regal McLaren Vale variety. This wine displays expressive and alluring aromas of liquorice and mulberry. The wonderfully structured and eloquent palate is broodingly complexed by an array of persistent fine grain tannins.

The Bush Vine Grenache. The unsung hero of McLaren Vale, the history and tradition of our region can be enjoyed with a glass of this wine that is crafted from old bush vine Grenache. These old, low yielding vines result in small berries, thick skins and open bunches which deliver bright fruit flavours and an invigorating rustic savoury texture.

McLaren Vale Shiraz. Showcasing McLaren Vale's brooding savoury side, which when enhanced with the regions plush dark fruits transports Shiraz to a deliciously ethereal level. The best of both worlds. This wine offers an impressive array of savory aromas: a core of blackberry and mulberry fruits infused with forest woodlands, wild herbs, and cracked black pepper wafts from the glass. Full-bodied and concentrated.

The Vicar Shiraz is Chapel Hill's Flagship Wine and is a selection of the most outstanding and expressive parcels of McLaren Vale Shiraz. The contributing vineyard winners are Inkwell Vineyard Block 1, Inkwell Vineyard Block 2 and Lacey Watilla Block. The Vicar Shiraz displays charismatic layers of blueberry, roasted fennel seeds and cured meats, which are seamlessly interwoven into the firm, but poised, savoury texture. The synergistic balance of the cascading layers of varietal flavour, palate weight, tannin and acidity will ensure that the wine will develop further complexity over the next 15 to 20 years. The Vicar Shiraz is our Exclusive and we were limited to just 36 bottles!
